Oakridge Golf Club

Case study Oakridge Golf Club

Oakridge Golf Club needed support across its website, local visibility and social media. We worked with the team on practical improvements that made the club and its events easier to find online.

The brief

Oakridge is an 18-hole golf club in rural Warwickshire, with facilities for weddings, celebrations and corporate events. Following the disruption of the pandemic, the team wanted marketing support that could help the business move forward.

The initial conversation identified three priorities: local SEO, social media and the website. The club also wanted people to book event tickets directly through its site.

Improving website performance

Our audit found several technical issues, including performance plugins working against each other. We removed unnecessary plugins and adjusted the remaining setup to improve loading speed.

The homepage's image carousel was another issue. Redesigning that area reduced the amount of work needed to load the page. During the project, the reported website performance grade improved from E to C.

Adding event bookings

The club had been using an external ticketing service. We added an events setup to the website and configured WooCommerce payments, so visitors could order tickets there.

Compatibility problems with the website theme were tested on a staging site before the changes went live. Once the booking pages were ready, a homepage section gave visitors a clearer route to upcoming events.

Local information and reviews

A review section was added to the homepage, with a way for customers to leave Google feedback. Business listings were also managed to keep the club's details consistent across relevant directories.

Member-only pages that weren't useful public search results were reviewed as part of the technical work. The aim was to make the publicly available information more useful and easier to find.

Content and social media

The content plan began with articles around corporate events and developed to include golf-related topics. Social posts covered memberships, events and useful website content, with advertising used to reach relevant audiences.

During the project, the club reported increased membership sign-ups and bookings. The supplied reporting also recorded a 2,000% increase in Instagram reach and a 315% increase in Facebook reach.

Working as part of the team

"I feel like they are part of the team because they are so invested in making my business a success."
