Case study HiFix

HiFix needed a clearer homepage and renewed SEO support for its specialist audio store. We worked with the team on the website experience, technical issues and content that customers could use.

The brief

Established in 1990, HiFix sells high-end audio products online and through its physical locations. Its homepage had become busy and difficult to navigate, while SEO work had received little attention for several years.

The project combined a homepage redesign with technical and local SEO. Content also needed a clearer plan, with the HiFix team involved in creating and sharing its knowledge.

Research and homepage planning

We reviewed competitor websites and HiFix's existing homepage. Popular brands and important product categories informed the new structure.

A block-based layout gave offers, discounts and new products clearer places on the homepage. The category list was simplified to make browsing less confusing.

An easy to use homepage

The design balanced product detail with ease of use, with clearer sections and layouts reviewed across desktop and mobile. Trust information gave customers more context before buying.

A map and a demonstration-booking call to action made it easier for people to visit a physical location. The editing setup also gave the team more control over the offers and products displayed.

"Really happy with the finished design, it makes using our website much easier for our customers. Having the drag-and-drop editor on Magento is a godsend too as it means our team can edit things on the fly."

Technical SEO

The website audit found a large number of issues across old and unused pages. These were worked through as part of an ongoing technical review, alongside research into relevant searches for HiFix's products and brands.

The work also included updated structured information on the home and contact pages. Reporting made it easier for the client to follow search visibility and changes in keyword positions.

A shared approach to content

Some blog articles were written by LoudLocal and others by HiFix. Our team supported the search-related details and reorganised the categories and tags so readers could find related content more easily.

Product category and brand pages were improved with useful written content, page titles, descriptions and suitable image alt text. Email campaigns supported relevant sales and seasonal offers.

The outcome

The redesigned homepage gave customers a clearer route through the store and made regular updates easier for the team. Technical SEO and content work gave the business a more consistent approach to improving its search visibility.

This is an earlier project, showing how website usability and SEO can be considered together rather than treated as separate jobs.
